Larry's  inspiration for painting comes from the Western landscape and the people, animals, and spirits who are a part of that landscape. He has a keen interest in the history of Native Americans and of their present culture.  Cremeens is particularly talented at capturing the action and vivid color of ceremonial regalia and dances.

He studied painting and drawing as an undergraduate at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. After moving to the West, he studied under several famous contemporary Western artists: John Coleman, William Scott Jennings, Mehl Lawson, John and Terri Moyers, Ralph Oberg, Matt Smith, and Curt Walters.

As a member of the Oil Painters of America and voted “Favorite Artist” by the  Sonoran Arts League “Peoples Choice” award, he is an accomplished and popular working artist. He hired Native American models with authentic historical regalia to pose for paintings at the Little Big Horn River in Montana.  Larry was one of the 50 artists selected to participate in the Artist Ride held at the Shearer Ranch in South Dakota.    Art collectors nationwide have purchased his paintings and others have commissioned special paintings for their private collections.

Larry has been accepted into the 23rd Annual Bosque Conservatory Art Classic in Clifton, Texas.  This year's Bosque Conservatory Art Classic is the Conservatory Art Council's  largest art show in its history.  Judge Mark Smith has selected 159 pieces for the show. A record number of entries (845) were received from 263 artists from across the U.S. and Canada.  Accepted art is now available for viewing by clicking on this link: http://bosqueconservatory.com/newgalleryview.aspx?type=&year=2008&cat=Oil%2fAcrylic

Living the Dream.
Some kids wanted to be cowboys or fireman – I always wanted to be an artist.    Now the Dream is real!!  I live and paint in the Southwest creating the spirit of the American West with paintings of cowboys, Native Americans, horses and cattle.   Art transforms and enriches people’s lives.  I want to share with the viewer through my paintings, the beauty and power of the American West.

Keep following your DREAMS.
I am an artist who as a small child, growing up in Northwest Indiana , dreamed and drew pictures of the Southwest.  I could only imagine what the Southwest looked like, because my reality was steel mills, refineries, flat land and gray skies.

The Phippen Museum's 34th Annual Western Art Show and Sale, was held over Memorial Day weekend, with a goal of  perpetuating the unique heritage, mythology, and influence of American Western Art.  The exceptional artists juried into this show set up their booths around the Historic Courthouse Plaza.  A big thank you goes out to my customers and friends.  The 2008 show was a huge success and I enjoyed visiting with all of you.
