Mission San Xavier Del Bac
This is the most beautiful church that I have had the pleasure to see. "In the native language of the Indians of the area, 'bac' means 'where the water emerges', a reference to the treasure of water in the desert regions. The Santa Cruz River that flows through the area is often underground, but at the mission, it re-emerges and thus is seen as a blessing. Father Kino was thus able to connect the miracle of St. Francis with the Tohono O-odham belief."
